Pīpīwharauroa Chick

 Pīpīwharauroa chick seen on November 1st at 12 Old Mill Ln, Ngunguru, Northland.

This is very early for our place. We normally see the chicks in January.

Leaf Vein Slug and Flatworms

 We often find leaf vein slugs (Athoracophorus bitentaculatus) about our place. Also working in the garden today there were 5 New Zealand Flatworms (Arthurdendyus triangulatus) under a plank. 

Mingimingi Blooms

Mingimingi is blooming like crazy and smelling wonderful.

Mioweka and Warau

 Its that time of year. Here are a pair of Mioweka (Banded Rail) and Welcome Swallows (Warau) in our wetland at Old Mill Lane, Ngunguru. The swallows are gathering mud for nest building.

Our Wetland Spider webs

  On September 6th after heavy rain we found the Lonjawed Orbweaver webs all over our wetland.

Pateke

  Lovely to see a Pateke pair back in the drain.

Harvestman

 This Harvestman found on some rotting timber is wider than a full hand span. 

Green Gecko

  New Zealand Fur Seal on Ngunguru Road. See the video of it enjoying an eel meal in our drain.
